annexation

October 16, 2012

The purpose of this letter is to notify you that property in an area to which you provide service is included in a proposed annexation by the City of Troy, Texas.  The area proposed for annexation is attached as Exhibit “A”

Under state law, the City may annex the area after following certain notice and hearing procedures contained in Chapter 43 of the Texas Local Government Code.  State law establishes the procedure the City must follow to annex the area.  City staff will prepare a proposed service plan describing the services the City will provide in the area upon annexation.  The City Council will then hold two (2) public hearings to discuss the annexation and the service plan.  The hearings will be held at Troy City Hall, 201 East Main Street, Troy, Texas  76579 at:

7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 5, 2012, and

7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 19, 2012.

After the public hearings, the City will decide whether to annex the property.  If you have questions concerning the annexation process, we encourage you to contact me, Carla Cole at (254) 938-2505.

Carla Cole

City Secretary, City of Troy
